Quick answers

Where is Lippo Centre?

Lippo Centre is in Admiralty, Hong Kong, Hong Kong SAR China.

When was Lippo Centre built?

Lippo Centre was built in 1988.

How tall is Lippo Centre?

Lippo Centre is about 186 m tall.

Lippo Centre is a pair of skyscrapers at 89 Queensway in Admiralty, on Hong Kong Island, finished in 1988. Tower I is 186 m high with 46 storeys, and Tower II is 172 m with 42 storeys. It used to be called the Bond Centre.

The American architect Paul Rudolph designed the octagonal towers as a design consultant for the firm Wong & Ouyang. They are covered in dark blue glass that bends and reflects light. The globe card says the clusters of glass bays make them look like koalas hugging a tree. The towers' eight sides make a distinctive shape on the Hong Kong skyline.

Design idea

Rudolph wrote in 1988 that he wanted the towers to have a strong presence seen from far away, from middle distance and from close up. He also wanted them to almost disappear into the sky by reflecting the changing light.

Murals by the artist Gerard D'Alton Henderson decorate the lobby. The building was supposed to look strong from far away, from medium distance and up close.

Inside and around

The complex has about 120,000 square meters of offices in two towers, with shops in the podium at the bottom and a small basement car park. Hip Hing Construction built it.

It is linked to the Central Elevated Walkway, a network of footbridges, so people can walk between buildings without crossing streets. Connecting walkways help people move between the towers and nearby buildings above the busy streets.
