How tall is Torre Reforma?
Torre Reforma is about 246 m tall.
Torre Reforma is an office skyscraper on Paseo de la Reforma, a grand avenue in Mexico City. It has 57 floors and reaches 246 meters (807 feet). Work began in May 2008 and the tower was finished in 2016, when it became the tallest building in the city, ahead of Torre BBVA and Torre Mayor right next to it.
Today it is the second tallest, after Torre Mitikah, which was completed in 2020. Its shape is often compared to an open book, with two bare concrete walls closed by a glass front. It has 28 elevators and won the LEED Platinum rating for green buildings in 2016.
Saving an old house
The plan first included knocking down Casa Austin, a house from the 1930s near the site. The builders decided to keep it, and now the old house is the tower's main entrance. This blends a historic building with a modern skyscraper.
The tower stands close to Torre Mayor, and a Mexican entertainment magazine nicknamed the two the non-twin towers, because they look so different.
Inside the tower
The building holds about 45,000 square meters of offices, plus shops, a restaurant and a gym. It has 28 elevators, with a top speed of 6.8 meters per second, and an underground garage for 1,161 cars.
In 2016 it received the highest LEED rating, Platinum, an award for green buildings. Engineers at Arup worked on it. It also has 2,500 square meters of shops and 2,500 square meters of gym space.
