Haeundae LCT The Sharp is a group of three supertall towers on Haeundae Beach in Busan, South Korea. It has a 101-floor, 411.6-metre landmark tower used as a hotel and two residential towers of about 85 floors each. The landmark tower is the second-tallest building in South Korea after Lotte World Tower in Seoul, and the tallest in Busan.

The complex was completed and opened on 30 November 2019. It has a base called an urban entertainment complex, with a shopping mall, a hot-spring spa and a water park. The three towers together have a floor area of about 660,000 square metres, which is about three times the 63 Building in Seoul, according to Korean Wikipedia.

Planning and delays

The first plans in 2007 showed a 117-floor, 511-metre tower. Later designs had 108 floors, and the final design was cut to 101 floors and about 412 metres in the approval of 2011. Work stopped in 2012 when builders could not agree on terms. In October 2013 a Chinese company, CSCEC, signed the building contract, and ground was broken on 28 October 2013. Later POSCO E&C became the builder. The towers were completed on 30 November 2019.

Inside the towers

The landmark tower has 561 residential-hotel rooms and 260 rooms in a tourist hotel, plus a convention hall and an observatory on the 100th floor. The two residential towers are 85 and 83 floors and are 339.1 and 333.1 metres tall, with 882 homes. The base, up to seven floors, has the Club D Oasis indoor-outdoor water park, shops and a Lotte Hotel Signiel, with 290 rooms.

Fun moments

In 2022 the complex held an exhibition for Proof, the anthology album of the South Korean group BTS, which showed their nine-year career. In February 2024 Busan police began an investigation to find two people who had jumped with parachutes from the observation deck on the 99th floor. The complex sits only about 50 metres from the beach, 2 kilometres from Marine City and 4 kilometres from Centum City.
