Shun Hing Square is a 384-metre skyscraper in Shenzhen, China, also called Diwang Tower, or the Di Wang Building. It has 69 floors and was finished in 1996. The tower is in the Luohu district of Shenzhen, and its top floor holds an observation deck.

When it was completed it became the tallest building in China, until the CITIC Plaza in Guangzhou overtook it in 1997. Korean Wikipedia adds that it was also briefly the tallest in Asia. It was the tallest building in Shenzhen from 1996 until 2011, when Kingkey 100 passed it. It is also the tallest all-steel building in China.

Why is it called Diwang?

Diwang means roughly 'king of the land'. The nickname comes from the price of the plot it stands on: at an auction it was the most expensive piece of land in Shenzhen at that time. The building rose quickly, at a pace of four floors in nine days, and used about 24,500 tonnes of steel. It contains offices, a car park, and a five-storey shopping arcade.

Records and the view

On the 69th floor there is an observation deck called the Meridian View Center. As of 2025, the tower is the seventh tallest in Shenzhen and is still one of the tallest buildings in the world with fewer than 70 floors. It was also the first skyscraper in mainland China to be counted among the ten tallest in the world, and the first there to pass 350 metres.
