The St. Regis Chicago, first called the Wanda Vista Tower, is a skyscraper with 101 floors in the Lakeshore East area of Chicago, Illinois. It was completed in 2020 and is about 365 metres (1,198 feet) tall, which makes it the third-tallest building in the city.

It was designed by the architect Jeanne Gang and her firm, Studio Gang, and it is the tallest building in the world designed by a woman. It looks like three towers of different heights joined together, with glass walls that seem to ripple. The Magellan Development Group built it together with the Chinese company Wanda Group.

Built to stand against the wind

Chicago is nicknamed the Windy City, so the design had to handle strong wind. The tower uses a buttressed core, and its outer columns step in and out. It also has empty "blow-through" floors that let wind pass, and six tanks of water that sway against the movement and calm it, called tuned mass dampers. Nobody lives or works on those empty floors; they are there only to help the building handle the wind.

Inside the tower

A hotel fills the first ten floors with 192 rooms, and above it are 393 luxury condominium homes starting on the 11th floor. There is a resort-style amenity area for residents on floor 47. The tower was announced in 2014, was topped out in April 2019 and was renamed St. Regis Chicago in November 2020. The hotel part also has two restaurants.
