The Dallas Arts Tower, which was formerly called the Chase Tower, is a 55-storey skyscraper at 2200 Ross Avenue in downtown Dallas, Texas, in the United States. It is about 225 metres (738 feet) tall. It was designed by the firm Skidmore, Owings and Merrill and completed in 1987.

It is known for its unusual top. The glass on top is curved, and near the top there is a six-storey hole through the centre of the building. Because of this hole some people nickname it the Keyhole Building. It is the fourth tallest skyscraper in Dallas, or the third if you leave out antennas and spires, and the 13th tallest in Texas.

What makes it special?

The tall glass tower is blue-green, and the hole near the top is a big opening you can look through. The design is called postmodern, a style that came after the plain glass boxes of the mid-1900s and likes playful shapes. At the base of the hole there is a 40th-floor Sky Lobby. Another quirky fact is that the building once housed the Dallas Petroleum Club on the 39th and 40th floors.

Tenants and changes

Over the years the tower had interesting tenants. A video game company, Ion Storm, once had its headquarters in a penthouse on the 54th floor, the top floor, which was unusual. The building was bought in 2007 by Hines REIT. In 2015 and 2016 the lobby and common areas were renovated, and a fitness centre was added in the rotunda on the north plaza, along with executive conference rooms.
