How tall is King Power MahaNakhon?

King Power MahaNakhon is about 314.2 m tall.

King Power MahaNakhon is a mixed-use skyscraper in the Silom and Sathon business district of Bangkok, Thailand. It is 314.2 metres tall and has 77 floors, and it was recognised as the tallest building in Thailand on 4 May 2016. It opened in December 2016, and it holds a hotel, shops, and expensive apartments.

Its design looks like a glass square tower with a spiral of cube-shaped pieces cut into one side. This pixelated ribbon seems to peel away the building's outer skin and reveal an inner layer, which makes balconies with city views. The German architect Ole Scheeren designed it. It stayed Thailand's tallest until 2018, when a 317-metre building at ICONSIAM passed it. In 2018 the King Power group bought the tower and changed its name.

Why does it look pixelated?

The building is shaped like a square prism, but a rough spiral of cuboid surfaces is cut into its side. The ribbon of cubes swirls around the outside and peels back the glass skin to show an inner layer. This makes balconies with views. The glass walls are divided horizontally and vertically, which adds to the pixel-like look. Many people say it looks as if the tower's skin is coming off.

Who lives and visits there?

The building has 10,000 square metres of retail space and 209 residences serviced by the Ritz-Carlton, among the most expensive in Bangkok. On the roof is an observation deck. Visitors can stand on the Glass Tray, a glass-floored area more than 300 metres above the street. The tower even appeared in a popular film, Justice League.
